A unique set up of 8 hand made baroque timpani. Timpani are designed by Finnish National Opera timpanist Raimo Nikulainen and made by blacksmith Jouni Saarnia in Finland in 1988. Bowls are made of 100% copper and all timpani have calf heads. The measurements of the timpani are: 60cm, 60cm, 58cm, 57cm, 57cm, 54cm, 54cm & 47 cm and all timpani are equipped with six screws to tighten the heads. On each timpani the two front screws are folding ones so they don't get on the way while playing! The timpani are very variable in sizes and sound:
they are originally designed to be able to play Druschetzky and Fischer concertos for eight timpani. The sounding range of the eight timpani is about from a low F (60cm) to a high a (47cm). Included in the setup are eight folding stand for all the timpani (made from birch), four hard cases and four soft cases.
